Welcome!

Hello, my name is Nicholas. In the picture beside me is my son, Nicholas Jr. For my day job, I work as an Engineering Supervisor at a company called Georgia Power. My gig certainly pays the bills (daycare costs are rough!)….but outside of work, I am passionate about investing in stocks. I taught myself how to invest right around the time Nicholas Jr. was born. After reading a lot of books, watching a lot of CNBC, and following a lot of very smart people on Twitter…..I absolutely fell in LOVE with the market. My motivation for learning how to invest was a desire to build wealth for Nicholas Jr., early in his life. More importantly, I wanted to be able to teach him how to invest when he’s 9 or 10 so that he can learn financial literacy early in his life. Most importantly, I want him to be free from the pressure of climbing the corporate ladder in adulthood. Yes, I want him to do well in school. Yes, I want him pick an awesome major in college. Yes, I want him to work for a great company. However, I want him to be able to walk in the office armed with an account sizable enough that he doesn’t feel the pressure to compete for stressful jobs.

This blog is about a Dollar and a Dream. I am forgoing consumption today, to lay back a dollar for tomorrow, for my son. My dream is for my son to become an Intelligent Investor and to not have to actively participate in the corporate rat race when he becomes an adult. In this blog I will regularly discuss various investing principles, along with showing you what stocks I have purchased for Nicholas, and why I purchased them. It is my hope that you will become motivated to invest for your child/niece/nephew/family member at an early age, so that you can set your children up for bright futures. I also hope to change your mentality from having a “consumer” mindset, and turn it into an “ownership” mindset. This is powerful for not only you, but for our younger generation as well. Enjoy!
